Joe Kinnear has praised Steven Taylor after he helped Newcastle United end their five-match losing streak.
Plagued by injuries to key players, interim manager Kinnear had to resort to playing the England Under-21 international at right-back against Everton at the weekend.
Kinnear said that while he was hesitant to play Taylor out of position, he had no complaints with his performance in the 2-2 draw at Goodison Park.
terrific game
Kinnear said: "I don't want to ask anyone to play out of position, but when Habib Beye told me he just wasn't ready that's what I had to do with Taylor.
"I know he is a central defender but he went in at right-back without any complaints and I thought he put all the previous problems that he has had behind him.
"He was probably our man of the match at Goodison Park in a lot of respects. He had a terrific performance, and a terrific game. He scored a great goal."
