In a follow-up to Atlético Madrid’s three-game stadium penalty, UEFA have also issued a suspension for their coach, Javier Aguirre for unsportsmanlike conduct.

Atlético Madrid’s troubles are far from over as the sanctions continue to roll out for the club. The latest penalty will see coach, Javier Aguirre barred from the bench for the team’s next two games in the Champions League.

The reprimand was handed out by UEFA after they found the Mexican trainer guilty of unsporting behaviour when he insulted Olympique Marseille midfielder, Mathieu Valbuena during their Matchday Two clash at the Vicente Calderón two weeks ago.

This will mean that Aguirre will not be able to have any contact with his players for the team’s upcoming double header against Liverpool.

Meanwhile, Valbuena himself has come out to denounce Aguirre’s behaviour while praising UEFA’s verdict.

“It’s clear that the coach is setting a very bad example with this kind of attitude,” Valbuena condemned.

“I am opposed to such behaviour, especially from a trainer because his job is to direct and control his own players. I would be horrified if (our coach) Eric Gerets were to insult another player on the pitch.”

“I am satisfied with the penalty imposed. This punishment does not serve to cheer me up and I would prefer that such an incident never happened in the first place,” he added.
