Niskala returns to Finland

2002-01-16 00:00:00
Finnish Veikkausliga side FC Inter Turku have completed the signing of IFK Norrköping midfield player Mika Niskala.

Youth international
Niskala, a Finland youth international, has spent the last three years with the Swedish outfit but was eager to expand his horizons by playing in a different league. The player has signed a three-year deal for the club, and Inter coach Pertti Lundell was delighted with his new acquisition, saying: "Niskala balances the midfield out well as he can play in different positions."

Firm favourite
Swedish striker Daniel Hamzo, 23, is also being put through his paces at Inter this month with a view to a permanent move. Hamzo, a former team-mate of Niskala at Norrköping, made his Allsvenskan debut for the club six years ago.

Promising player
Meanwhile, VPS Vaasa have signed Finland Under-17 international captain Veli Lampi on a three-year deal. Lampi has played 27 youth internationals and rejected a move to England's Aston Villa FC last season.
