Greek season start postponed

The opening round of the 2007/08 Super League season in Greece this weekend has been postponed following the fires that have swept the south of the country.

'National tragedy'
With 41 people confirmed dead in the Peloponnese forest fires by midday on Saturday, league authorities took the decision to call off the matches scheduled today and tomorrow. The Super League said: "As our country is experiencing a national tragedy, it is imperative we postpone the start of the league." It is not yet known when the fixtures will be staged.
